Help file 4. "Check for new version" utility Suggestions/contributions welcome Notes: ************************************************************** Update Notes ************************************************************** None ************************************************************** ABEP GUI utility Information ************************************************************** Due to the lack of support for creating .reg files from setup information within Inno Setup, a work-around has had to be coded into the utility to allow enabling the extensions via the GUI. Should any problems be noticed, please notify me. Because of this restriction, you may need to check the paths within the .reg file for the extension you wish to install, before you install it. IMPORTANT: The ABEP utility does NOT allow you to disable/enable or remove the SP2 enhancements provided by DrDrrae. ************************************************************** General Information ************************************************************** 1. As these extensions use VBScript/Javascript, you will need to ensure scripts are not blocked. 2. These have only been tested on 2K Server, 2K Pro and XP Pro SP1. 3. The no-install package includes 2 batch files that allow you to backup your registry before installing the extensions (reccomended) backreg.bat - To be used on NT systems and above (i.e. 2000, XP) backreg9x.bat* - To be used on Windows ME and below (i.e. 98SE, 95) 4. If using the installer, an option is provided during setup, to have your registry backed up, please use it!. * Please make sure you open backreg9x.bat in notepad and check the path, before running backreg9x.bat (default is C:\) With special thanks to Vyacheslav, a Russian language pack is now also included. Though I have been given permission by SiteAdvisor to include the SiteAdvisor Lookup extension, it must be made clear that this extension is NOT supported by SiteAdvisor. Any and all questions associated with this extension, should be directed to myself at: http://mysteryfcm.co.uk/?mode=Tickets&cid=2 Installation: No-install (manual installation): 1. Extract the contents of the zip file to the Avant Browser program folder - This should automatically create a new folder called "Extensions" with the zip file contents contained within it. Along with a new folder inside the Extensions folder, named "Reg_Files" (this contains the .reg files you can use for selectively installing extensions). 2. Backup your registry using either backreg.bat/backreg9x.bat (see notes above) 3. Open InstallExt.reg (see Installation notes) in Notepad and change the paths to reflect your system - For example, if your Program Files\Avant Browser folder is located in; X:\Wherever\Program Files\Avant Browser\ You would change; C:\\Program Files\\Avant Browser\\Extensions\\luACF.htm To; X:\\Wherever\\Program Files\\Avant Browser\\Extensions\\luACF.htm - IMPORTANT: The paths MUST remain double slashed! 4. Save, close then double click on the .reg file 5. Re-start Avant Browser Full Install: 1. Double click abep-x_x-setup (where x_x is the version number) 2. Run through the steps to install the extensions 3. Re-start your internet browser. Installation Notes: Running the .reg file mentioned in step 2 of the installation instructions, will install ALL of the extensions provided. Should you find there is one or more you do not require, you should remove them from the .reg file prior to running it. For example, should you not require the Google extension, you should remove the following entry; [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\&Google Lookup] "Contexts"=dword:00000010 @="C:\\Program Files\\Avant Browser\\Extensions\\luGoogle.htm" Once you are finished, simply save the file (you must ensure the file has a .reg extension!) Alternatively, should you wish to selectively install extensions with a little more ease, you will now find a Reg_Files sub-folder containing individual .reg files for each extension. Simply open it up in Notepad as per step 2, and modify the path to reflect your system. Uninstallation: No-install: 1. Run Uninst_ABEP.reg to delete the registry keys 2. Delete the extensions folder 3. Re-start your internet browser Full Install: 1. Go to the Add/Remove Programs applet - Start > Run, enter: appwiz.cpl 2. Scroll down the list of items until you come to AB Extension Pack 3. Highlight AB Extension Pack and click Remove 4. Re-start your internet browser *********************************************************************** CONDITIONS OF USE *********************************************************************** See enclosed EULA.txt
